Opening Day is a little more than 2 weeks away and we're working to get the season off to a great start. The fields are undergoing maintenance and repairs, uniforms and equipment have been ordered and the snack bar is being prepped to serve your favorite items. In the meantime, we wanted to give you a heads up about a few important items.
Double Good popcorn Fundraiser starts later this week. You canhelp raise funds for our league by sharing with family and friends! The virtual fundraiser is 100% contactless, the league keeps 50% of the profit and the product ships directly to your supporters. Ladera families each create a Pop-Up Store and sell DoubleGood's delicious, award-winning, ultra-premium popcorn! Our fundraising window begins February 23 and runs through February 27. Before the fundraiser begins: 1) download the Double Good app; 2) Enter our Event Code LIJYTU in the app; and 3) Create your Pop-Up Store. The DoubleGood app is available for free on iOS and Android. The top 3 fundraisers families will be acknowledged and receive prizes on Opening Day!
Speaking of which, Opening Day is Saturday, March 9! We're planning a fun filled day of activity and games to start the season off, including the parade of players, jumpers, face painters, music, special guests, and of course the Snack Shack will be open and ready for business. All players should arrive in uniform no later than 8:45 am. Uniforms will be distributed the week of March 4. The ceremony will start at 9:30 am on the Major "BeeBop" Field which is the middle field in the baseball complex. Following the ceremony, we'll kick off the season with the baseball and softball games on all three fields.
GameChanger is here! As you may know the league is using the free GameChanger app that works in conjunction with the league's SportsConnect website to help centralize game and practice schedules league-wide events, scoring, and team communications. Download the GameChanger app which is available for free on iOS and Android.
We also want to remind you that for the safety of the children, members must complete the JDP background check, LiveScan fingerprinting and Volunteer Mandated Reporter Training to be cleared to volunteer at the league. If you have not already done so, please complete the annual JDP background check, the one-time LiveScan fingerprint, and annual Mandated Reporter Training by March 2. Please note that we're scheduling an on-site LiveScan and first aid event on March 2... keep an eye out for more details. Communication is key. We're sending a lot of information via email and posting on social media, all of which will tie back to the league website. Information sent to all members via email will also be made available as News items on the home page of the league website, and your team home page located under the Team Central tab. Your team coaching staff, including the team parent/coordinators are great sources of information, as are the members of the board.
